1" Scale Victorian Unmentionables

1:30pm to 5pm


Create a late Victorian corset, garters and stockings in one inch scale to display in your miniature setting. Students will learn special techniques to accurately cut out scale patterns, manipulate fabrics, create bows, rouche ribbons, work with a variety of tiny trims and lace, and assemble miniature garments while keeping all in scale. Also learn to glue and drape fabric for a natural and realistic look.


Students should bring very small, sharp scissors for fabric and scissors for paper, pencil, ruler, pointed tweezers (bent tips are very handy), small tip glue bottle or glue syringe filled with Tacky-type glue, glue applicator (glue syringe or bottle with small metal tip).

Optional supplies: small iron and ironing surface (Preferably a quilters’ iron, craft iron or travel iron) or we will share the instructor's. 

Please bring magnification, small light and an extension cord if you will need them.

 A Century of Ladies' Hats & Bonnets in  Quarter Inch Scale

Our small scale scenes need evidence of inhabitants to come alive. Learn to create a variety of quarter inch scale hats and hat stands to place in your miniature scene, whether a mid 19th century bonnet or 1930’s pillbox.


Students will receive instructions and materials to create several hats and will learn special techniques to manipulate fabrics and papers, create bows and work with feathers and ribbons while keeping all in scale and to decide the amount of detail to include or omit.


Student should bring small sharp fabric scissors, scissors for paper, fine pointed tweezers, rulers, tacky type glue and glue applicator (glue syringe or bottle with small metal tip). Please bring magnification, small light and extension cord if you will need them.
